A: Yes, all of our fishing charters in British Columbia are private. You will not be sharing the boat with strangers. This means we can fully customize the trip to your group's preferences, skill level, and target species.

A: We understand that plans can change. Please contact us directly when you book and we will walk you through our cancellation and rescheduling policy. We always try to be as flexible as possible, especially when weather is the reason for a change.

Licences & Regulations

A: Yes. All guests who will be fishing are required to hold a valid British Columbia Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence. During salmon season, a Salmon Conservation Stamp is also required. Licences can be purchased online through the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) website before your trip. Children under 16 do not require a licence for saltwater fishing in BC.

A: BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licences can be purchased online at the DFO website (dfo-mpo.gc.ca) or at most sporting goods stores in the Vancouver area. We recommend purchasing online before your trip to save time. If you need help figuring out exactly what licence you need, just ask us when you book.

A: Yes, DFO regulations set daily catch limits that vary by species, season, and fishing area. Our guides stay current on all regulations and will ensure your catch is within legal limits at all times. We are fully committed to sustainable, responsible fishing on all our British Columbia fishing charters.

What to Expect on the Water

A: Our BC fishing charters include a fully equipped boat, all professional-grade fishing rods, reels, and tackle, an experienced licensed guide, and fish cleaning and bagging at the end of the trip. You do not need to bring any fishing gear.

A: You do not need to bring any fishing equipment. We recommend dressing in layers appropriate for BC coastal weather, even in summer. Bring sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, a light waterproof jacket, snacks, water, and your camera. Your valid BC fishing licence is required.

A: Motion sickness is a real consideration on the water. If you are prone to seasickness, we recommend taking an over-the-counter motion sickness medication the night before your trip and again the morning of. Staying hydrated, focusing on the horizon, and avoiding heavy meals before the trip also help. Most guests do absolutely fine, especially on calmer days in sheltered BC waters like Howe Sound.

A: Not at all. Our experienced guides will teach you everything you need to know. We welcome complete beginners, families with children, and experienced anglers alike. Our goal is to make sure every guest has a great time on the water regardless of their experience level.

A: While we cannot guarantee catches — fishing is fishing after all — our guides know these BC waters extremely well and will put you in the best possible position to succeed. We consistently put our guests on fish and take great pride in our track record on the water.

Charters & Scheduling

A: The Half Day charter is 4 hours and is perfect for families, beginners, and guests with limited time. The 3/4 Day charter is 6 hours and gives us more flexibility to reach better fishing grounds and target multiple species. The Full Day charter is 8 hours and provides the ultimate BC fishing experience, using the full tidal cycle and covering the most water. All charters include all gear and fish cleaning.

A: Departure times are set based on tidal conditions and the target species for your trip. Our guides plan departure times to put you on the water during the most productive windows. We will confirm your exact departure time when you book.

A: Safety is always our first priority. If weather conditions are unsafe, we will reschedule your charter to the next available date at no additional cost. BC coastal weather can be unpredictable, but many guests are surprised by how fishable conditions can be even on overcast days.

A: Absolutely. All fish caught within legal DFO limits are yours to keep. We clean and bag your catch at the end of every trip so it is ready to take home or to your accommodation. There is nothing better than cooking up fresh BC salmon the same day you caught it.
