A family fishing charter in British Columbia is one of those rare experiences that everyone — from young kids to grandparents — can enjoy together. There’s something magical about being on the water surrounded by BC’s mountains and coastline, waiting for that first strike. At Premier Fishing Adventures & Tours, we love hosting families and work hard to make every trip accessible, fun, and memorable.
We welcome children of all ages on our charters, though we generally recommend that young children be at least 5–6 years old for the best experience. Kids tend to have a blast once they get a fish on the line! Our crew is patient and will take the time to help younger anglers learn basic techniques and handle their catch safely.
For families with young children, we recommend starting with our Half Day Charter (4 hours). It’s long enough to have a genuine fishing experience but short enough that attention spans — and seasickness thresholds — are unlikely to be tested. Families with older kids or experienced young anglers often enjoy the 3/4 Day or Full Day charter for more time exploring BC’s coastline.
In British Columbia, anglers 16 years of age and older require a valid Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence. Children under 16 do not need a licence to participate in recreational saltwater fishing. Licences for adults can be purchased online through the DFO website — we’ll provide the link when you book.
We recommend dressing children in layers and bringing a windproof jacket. BC coastal weather can be unpredictable even in summer. Pack plenty of snacks, water, and sunscreen. Anti-nausea medication (taken the night before if needed) can help prevent seasickness on younger passengers. Bring a camera — you’ll want photos of that first fish!
Give your family an experience they’ll talk about for years. Call Premier Fishing Adventures & Tours at 604-868-4566 or email info@pfat.ca to book a family fishing charter in beautiful British Columbia.
