What to Expect on a BC Fishing Charter

Is a Fishing Charter Right for You?

Whether you’ve never held a fishing rod or you’ve been angling your whole life, a guided fishing charter in British Columbia is one of the best ways to experience the province’s incredible marine fishery. You don’t need experience — our crew handles the technical stuff so you can focus on the fun part.

What’s Included

When you book with Premier Fishing Adventures & Tours, everything you need for a successful day on the water is provided. Our charters include a fully equipped fishing boat, all professional-grade fishing equipment and tackle, and an experienced licensed guide. At the end of the trip, we clean and bag your catch at no additional charge.

What to Bring

You don’t need to bring any fishing gear. We recommend dressing in layers appropriate for BC coastal weather — even in summer, it can be cool on the water. Bring sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, a light waterproof jacket, snacks, and water. Most guests also bring a camera. A valid BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence is required and can be purchased online through the DFO website before your trip.

Fishing Licences

All guests participating in fishing during the charter are required to hold a valid British Columbia Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence. Depending on the time of year and target species, a Salmon Conservation Stamp may also be required. Licences can be purchased conveniently online through the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) website. We’re happy to help you figure out exactly what you need when you book.

What Fish Can You Catch?

BC waters offer an exceptional variety of species depending on the season. Chinook salmon and Coho salmon are the most sought-after targets for most of the year. During extended and full day charters, we may also target lingcod and rockfish on rocky bottom structure, drop crab traps during winter and spring, and pursue prawns in deeper water. Every season brings different opportunities — ask us what’s biting when you book.

Half Day, 3/4 Day, or Full Day?

For first-timers and families, we recommend starting with a Half Day charter (4 hours). It’s enough time to get a real feel for the sport without being too long for kids or beginners. If you want more time on the water and the opportunity to reach better fishing grounds, the 3/4 Day charter (6 hours) is a great middle ground. Serious anglers and groups wanting to maximize their BC fishing experience should go for the Full Day (8 hours).
